My name is Lilly Weisz-Nesshoever, and I am running for Narragansett Town Council because I care deeply about the community that has shaped my life. As a lifelong Narragansett resident of 21 years, I've grown up enjoying our beaches, neighborhoods, local businesses, and strong sense of community. I understand both what makes our town special and the challenges we face as we plan for the future.
MY EDUCATION:
I went to Narragansett Elementary, Middle, and graduated from Narragansett High School after completing the Computer + Technology technical program and a full year of dual enrollment at the University of Rhode Island. At 20 years old, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, as well as completing an Associates of Science in Engineering Technology. Achieving these degrees at a young age required dedication, discipline, and a strong work ethic, which are qualities I will bring to public service.
My engineering and technology education taught me how to approach challenges logically, evaluate information carefully, and develop practical solutions to complex problems. Whether reviewing budgets, considering infrastructure investments, discussing housing policies, or planning for the future of our coastal community, I believe decisions should be based on facts, data, and long-term thinking.
ENGINEERING A STRONGER NARRAGANSETT:
I currently work in town as an applications engineer for a geotechnical instrumentation company. Every day, I work closely with contractors, construction companies, government agencies, and project managers to understand, monitor, and protect critical infrastructure. My role requires me to analyze data, solve complex problems, and communicate technical information clearly to support informed decision-making. Through my education and professional experience, I have developed an understanding of infrastructure, environmental monitoring, resource management, and project planning. In a coastal community like Narragansett, these issues are especially important as we address concerns such as infrastructure maintenance, water resource management, coastal resilience, responsible development, and environmental stewardship. I can commit to bringing a practical, facts-based approach to this town council. With my professional experience, I can promise to contribute expertise and a fresh perspective.
WHY I'M RUNNING:
I am running for Narragansett Town Council because I believe our community benefits from having a diversity of perspectives at the table, including the perspective of younger residents. As a member of the next generation, I bring a voice often missing in local government, the long-term view of someone who will be living with the outcomes of today’s decisions for decades. I want to help ensure those decisions are made with future residents in mind, not just short-term pressures. I want Narragansett to not only be a town where people grow up in and visit but can afford to stay and build their futures here.
MY VALUES:
I believe in practical, fact-based decision-making and thoughtful leadership grounded in real community needs. Good government should rely on data and careful analysis but always stay connected to the lived experiences of residents. I value transparency, accountability, and open communication, so that residents understand how and why decisions are made. Local government works best when it listens first and acts with purpose. I also believe in long-term thinking and making choices today that protect Narragansett’s future. Above all, I value preserving what makes Narragansett special while making sure it remains a place where people who grow up here can afford to stay, contribute, and build their lives.
